Weinstein:  We are dealing with monsters

Referring to the entire episode (the virus origins, the pandemic, and the hapless and heavy-handed response), Weinstein labels it mass murder and calls for a Nuremberg trial.  This was and continues to be organized crime on a global scale.  Everyone involved should go to jail.

But we all know that no one is going to be held accountable.  The only way that the world might demand accountability is if the death toll were to skyrocket all these years later.  Part of the problem is that very few who received the mRNA so-called "vaccine" want to admit, to themselves or otherwise, what an ill-conceived decision that was.  And how many people allowed their children to receive this?  Who wants to admit that kind of error?

So the criminals remain largely in place.  And without doubt, they will do it again.

Pharmaceutical Evil

Ethical drug companies are anything but ethical

And of course, governments assist their villainous behavior.  Today, post Covid, we must acknowledge that the pharmaceutical industry is much worse than the tobacco industry.  If for no other reason than it affects more people.  But the truth is these firms are knowingly working against public and individual health in order to produce long term customers for their recently patented, expensive drugs.

Over the decades, I became skeptical of Big Pharma.  At first, I think it was all the creepy ads.  But later I noticed how physicians seemed to morph into little more than drug dealers.  Paid by us, their patients, and/or our insurance companies, but also handsomely paid by Big Pharma as well.

And by the time Covid came along, the grift was up.  At least for me.  But sadly not for most.  And today, the racket continues.  If during or after Covid, you were late to recognize the grift, only to do so in hindsight, welcome.  I myself did not learn about the complete lack of proper testing for any vaccines, until after Covid, and after I received a number of recommended vaccines for international travel.  But at this point, if you do not see the grift for what it is, you are recklessly naive regarding your own and your family's health.

As for the mRNA so-called vaccines, we still do not know what that was about.  What we do know absolutely is that they were not designed as a vaccine against Covid.  Are there any other vaccines that do not immunize against their target disease?  Any?  As Bret Weinstein recently pointed out, if these drugs were not designed to create immunity, perhaps they were purposefully designed to create some future vulnerability.  What other reason could there be to insist that every person on this planet receive multiple doses of this poison?

Pure evil.

The Lowe-Down on Britain

Rupert Lowe asks:  Is the British government a criminal enterprise?

Lowe says that change can be driven through the ballot box.  Well as a politician, he would have to say that, right?  But as in California and Minnesota, I'm not at all sure that will work any more.

Lowe thinks that people will vote for things to get worse before they get better.  That is wishful thinking; I do not believe that people will do that.  Collapse is inevitable.

I mean in Britain you have an elite class and a government class who absolutely refuse to hold rapists accountable.  Mind you, over decades.  They minimize it, they dismiss it, they hide it.  And it doing so, they prove themselves worse than the actual rapists.  It is, in fact, criminal.

Can the government at large be guilty of accessory and/or obstruction?  Or aiding and abetting?  Because that is exactly what happened.  And Keir Starmer was the head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

And this is before we get to the vast crimes of the Covid "pandemic" response.  Weinstein wonders aloud if the mRNA "vaccines" were not designed to create immunity (which so clearly, they were not), but rather purposefully designed to create some future vulnerability.  To what, we cannot yet know.  But given the players involved, this clearly is a possibility.  This would certainly explain the unhinged enthusiasm for the jab from the powers that be.

Whether designed for immunity or future vulnerability, my question is, what other alternatives are there?

Well there is pure profit.  But to me, that does not adequately explain the multi-government fervor, both domestically and internationally.  And the punishments for noncompliance.  The governmental actions and supposed reactions were unexplained, dark, and sinister.  We may not know the tree, but we sure saw the fruit.  It was not merely profit-driven; just my opinion.

In any case, these same people are in charge of the election processes.  So my question is:  Have we reached the end of functional democracy?

I think we have.  These people must be dislodged and prosecuted.  Keir Starmer must be jailed.  Along with many thousands of his ilk.  And now, I hear that Andy Burnham will be even worse.

But how will this happen?

The answer is obvious.

I started paying attention to Bret Weinstein at the time of the woke kerfuffle at Evergreen State College back in 2017.  But what I could not have known at that time was that it would be Weinstein and his wife, Heather Heying, who would largely guide my family and me through the Covid era.  I will always be grateful for their honesty in an immensely dishonest time.  There were others of course, but Weinstein and Heying did the heavy lifting.

Along with their Covid analysis, their commentary, on the public health universe, big pharma, the trans-agenda, and many other topics in which our expert classes have failed us, has been nearly as valuable.  It was Weinstein and Heying who introduced me to the scourge of institutional capture and the idea of a shadowy Goliath.

Grok on Covid

Fifteen questions for Grok

Grok currently allows users, with non-paid accounts, to ask fifteen questions every two hours.  So I thought, why not?  This is a follow up to my post last month, On the Faith of Atheists, which was my first discussion with Grok, and kind of interesting.

This time, I decided to edit it a bit more for clarity.  For instance, Grok now asks the user questions at the end of each response.  Probably trained to do so in order to maintain and encourage user engagement.  So I deleted any question that Grok asked me which I chose to ignore.  But again, there is a link to the original conversation at the end.

Anyway, here are my fifteen questions:

After Covid, I heard Zuby make the point that:  Most people would rather be in the majority than be correct.  Is this sentiment correct?

Zuby’s observation, Most people would rather be in the majority than be correct, taps into a well-documented aspect of human psychology:  The tendency toward conformity.  This idea is not new; it echoes what researchers like Solomon Asch found in the 1950s with his conformity experiments.  Asch showed that people often align their opinions with the majority, even when they know it is wrong, due to social pressure.  About 75% of participants conformed at least once when faced with a clearly incorrect majority opinion on something as simple as line lengths.

This sentiment holds up in broader contexts too.  Social media, like X, amplifies it, people pile into trending narratives, often prioritizing likes and retweets over accuracy.  Post-Covid, you saw this with debates over masks, vaccines, or lockdowns:  Many clung to dominant views, whatever they were locally, rather than digging into data or questioning inconsistencies.  Studies on groupthink, like those from Irving Janis, back this up, people avoid rocking the boat to stay comfortable in the crowd.

But is it most people?  That’s trickier.  It is not universal, some thrive on being contrarian, and others dig for truth regardless of popularity.  Zuby’s likely exaggerating for effect, as a precise headcount is impossible without massive surveys.  Still, the core idea tracks:  Humans are wired to seek safety in numbers, and being correct often takes a backseat to fitting in.  Covid, with its uncertainty and tribalism, just made that more glaring.  What do you think, did you see this play out around you?

Well certainly most people followed the experts advice in the response to Covid, even if it hurt their own health or even the health of their children.

Covid Testing Conspiracy Theory

Would the government pass up an opportunity to collect your DNA?

I will not venture into:  The government caused Covid in order to achieve X.  I will leave that to other more accomplished conspiracy theorists than myself.  But I would like to lay out a possibility that has crossed my mind.

Let's say you work for the FBI in the Federal DNA Database Unit, which runs the CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) and the NDIS (National DNA Index System).  While it may not be legally possible, would you not want everyone's DNA entered into the system?  Would that not be your dream?  I mean, if you could, you would collect DNA samples from every infant born in the US and from every border crosser of any description.

The more records you have in your database, the more likely you are to find matches.  I'm not suggesting that anyone involved would go to such lengths, but clearly there is an incentive to increase the size of the database.

So Covid comes along in late 2019 followed rather quickly by Covid testing.  Most often a nasal swab, which contains the individual's DNA.  If you worked for the FBI, would you not see an opportunity here?  Never let a crisis go to waste and all that.

Now sure, the FBI cannot be seen to be collecting DNA samples from broad swaths of the American public.  But maybe they could ask the CDC or NIH (or some other supposedly benign "public health" organization) to start collecting previously Covid-tested samples so that they could be "disposed of properly" or for "statistical purposes."  These could be collected, turned over to the FBI, and warehoused until such a time that they could be added to the database.

If done discreetly, this might take years, but they could slowly grow the database.  The goal need not be DNA records for everyone, but simply to grow the database by an order of magnitude or two.  Maybe the goal would be to grow the database to allow familial matches for everyone?  Familial matches for ninety percent?  Fifty percent?  My God, we could eliminate rape altogether!  Just think of the possibilities.

And Covid may not have been the first opportunity to collect DNA samples.  Any patient's blood work, from any laboratory, may have been available to the FBI for years.  Certainly since DNA sequencing became widely available.  Same is true for many forms of medical waste.  Finally, is it really inconceivable that the FBI has backdoors into 23andMe and Ancestry.com and other DNA ancestral testing firms?

It really comes down to this.  How much can we trust the government, particularly the intelligence agencies?  Note, I no longer refer to our government or our intelligence agencies.  I'm not sure when it changed, but they are definitely no longer ours.  In any case, how nefarious do we think they could be?

Nothing would surprise me.

Covid and the Nuremberg Code

Everyone should watch this

Let's make this simple:  All actions taken during the Covid medical response should have been tested against the Nuremberg Code.  And since this was not done at the time, we should do so now.

I also believe that there should now be severe penalties for anyone and everyone who mandated, pressured, or coerced others to act without informed consent and/or against their will.  No, we cannot hang all of these people.  But at a minimum, they should be named and shamed.  None of these people should ever hold positions of responsibility again.

Finally, there should be penalties for anyone who disallowed open debate and discussion on what was going on and how to stop it.  Surely this active, real time censorship slowed effective treatment and promoted ineffective treatments, causing death for many.

How We Got Here

Big pharma, a complicit medical establishment, corrupt & incompetent governments, a subversive & irredeemable education system, and a credulous populace with no faculty for critical thought

I have just finished watching the Netflix docuseries, Don't Pick Up the Phone.  It is just amazing to me how many people are willing to blindly follow authority.  Even if the authority is untrustworthy or incompetent or completely fake.  Yes, I am aware that there was a 2012 movie, Compliance, on the same subject.  But I never saw it.  I'm guessing not many people saw it.

Compliance is a choice.  And regarding Covid, most of us chose poorly.  Not all of us.  With much difficulty and some legal risk, my family and I completely eschewed the so-called vaccines.  I wish good luck to the rest of you.  But many of you will never pay for your recklessness.  However, there seems to be an increasing number of people who are paying dearly.

And yet, the mandates continue.  I realize that the world has always known and experienced evil.  Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, the Soviet Union, Jim Crow, etc.  Just to name a few cases from the last century.  But the list is endless.

However, the Covid lockdowns and mandates set a new and disturbing precedent for the breadth of evil.  I think you would be hard-pressed to find a previous example of evil on a scale this broad.  I mean, from the United Nations, to national governments, to state and local governments, to employers and schools, right down to the squawking Karens at the grocery stores.  That is, virtually all of our leadership class, and so many of our friends and family and neighbors and colleagues.  It's widely understood that we have the worst leadership class in generations.  But it turns out, we are surrounded by blind, unthinking, sequacious sheep.

Sure, I blame Biden and Fauci, and the governors, and the medical establishment, and the teachers.  But dear reader, those of you who have shown unquestioning compliance, are every bit as evil as Fauci's capricious pronouncements.  Especially if you have given these untested drugs to your children.

Who does that?

What is that?

Evil is the only word to describe it.

The Questions of Our Time

Questions and Consequences

Imagine the morality of compelling everyone to take an untested drug only to later discover that its efficacy is extremely low or even nonexistent.  That would be bad enough if you knew the drug was perfectly harmless.  But what if you have no idea whatsoever.

What kind of people do such a thing?

One argument these people use is that while the vaccines may not prevent one from contracting the disease, they do lessen the severity.  No small thing.  But if the vaccines do little or nothing on the prevention front, no one should care if someone else has taken the vaccine or not – Because the severity of a disease, one may or may not contract, makes no difference to anyone, other than the individual patient.  So this is an argument for individual choice, not compulsion.

And yet, why have so many people wanted to deny others this choice?

I do not for one minute think these people care about the health of strangers.  If they did care in the least, they would want to know more about the drugs they are forcing on others.  So no, let's not pretend they care.  I have made the argument before that this is about simple obedience.

Again, what kind of people are we talking about here?

All of them?  I mean, can it really be all of them?

One final question:  What percentage of Germans supported Hitler's policies?  Whether they actively participated or not, what percentage supported what he was doing?

The totalitarians who enacted these Covid policies should be charged with abuse of office.  That's easy.  As to the argument that they legitimately enacted emergency powers?  I think that is a question for a jury.  What did they know and when did they know it?  These are questions of fact, not law.  Here's another question of fact:  Were their actions driven by legitimate emergency necessity, or simply unbridled lust for power?

Further, it is also clear that many of these so-called emergency actions were unconstitutional.  It matters not what the respective state constitutions or city charters specify.  There is no US constitutional allowance for the suspension of the First Amendment right of freedom of assembly.  If you think such a power is warranted, fine.  You are welcome to amend the Constitution.

The more difficult question is what to do with the rest of you?

If you supported lockdowns and mandates and masking...you should be ashamed.  And you should be shamed.  Because Gretchen Whitmer and Gavin Newsom and your local school board did not act alone.  They acted with the support of millions.

Yes, I realize this support ranged from skeptical, to moderate, to enthusiastic, to downright overzealous.  But there needs to be consequences for that support, and any role you may have played in enacting and enforcing these policies.

Some of you committed fraud, some harassment, and some only wrongful termination (which is not a crime as far as I know).  Many of you violated HIPAA privacy rules.  Many of you loudly scolded and shamed your neighbors going about their business at the grocery store.  It is also not a crime to be a vile, reprehensible human being.  Although it is worth knowing.  And the more widely known, the better.

We cannot charge you as mere supporters.  So...we need a sort of truth commission.  And we need to put your names on a list.  Something akin to the Sex Offenders List.  We can call it the Lockdown List or some such.  If it were up to me, I'd call it the Obedience Enforcers List or the Covid Obedience Collaborators List.

Covid Collaborators for short.  That's got an appropriate historical ring to it.

I think what we need is a sort of Covid Collaborators Wiki-like website where we can name individuals and organizations, with photos, and details of their collaborations.  Like all Wiki sites, anyone can add and edit.  But let's get the details out there.  Finally, we should house it in the only country that I know of that behaved rationally during the pandemic, Sweden.  Or better yet, somewhere beyond the reach of the US government and the lefty tech establishment.  So Sweden...or Nigeria.

As for libel laws, I don't think that's a problem if we house it in Nigeria.  But we could head off claims of libel by requiring entries to be confirmed by some number of people.  So for example, perhaps we require three or more people to add an entry.  Three is not enough?  Make it more.  For those of you who acted in a grievous manner, I don't think we will have trouble finding multiple witnesses.  You were so shameless and self-righteous in your actions.

In any case, all of you belong on it.

All-Cause Mortality?

What are the long term effects of vaccines?

Here's a phrase I had never heard:  All-cause mortality.

I had to listen carefully to understand what she is saying.  But it is crucial.  As Christine Stabell Benn explains it, all-cause mortality has never been studied in any vaccination approval process.  Certainly not with the new mRNA vaccines.

Here's how she concludes:

Unknown to most people, none of the vaccines that we use today in vaccination programs globally were assessed for their effects on overall health before they were introduced.  Everybody was so sure at that time that vaccines did nothing but protect against the vaccine disease, so it didn't seem necessary to test them for other effects.  So once it was proven that the vaccines protected against the vaccine disease, well then any kind of assessment stopped.

Since the rollouts, I have wondered why the researchers seemed so cavalier about the long term effects of the Covid vaccines.  Now I understand that they just don't care.  At least they don't have a history of caring.  Trust the science?  Well maybe.  But think twice about the scientists.  And their companies?  Get real.

Like many people before Covid, I used to think of the anti-vaccine types as a bit nutty.  I mean, can it really be possible that vaccines, or at least some vaccine, causes autism?  Or contributes to it?  I would ask also about peanut allergies, which basically did not exist when I was a kid.  My grade school cafeterias served peanut butter sandwiches to everyone round about once a month.  Something in the last fifty years has caused this.  And I don't think it's global warming.  I don't even think it's neurotic parents.

Turns out, no one knows because no one studies this stuff.  That is, vaccine effects on overall health.  We know nothing about the long term effects of any of the Covid vaccines.  Long term, as in beyond, what, twenty months?

I also wonder if the vaccine Nazis will turn out to be worse than the actual German Nazis?  The dynamics are the same.  Would not surprise me one bit.

On Covid Madness

The vaccine argument is weak.  So why all the lingering anger?

As I understand it, the argument is, if you get vaccinated, you may still catch the Covid, but you are less likely to be hospitalized.  And if you are hospitalized, you are less likely to die.  In other words, your symptoms will be less severe.  And if we can believe government statistics, this appears to be true.  Of course, the government has proven itself a dishonest broker regarding all things Covid.  So make of it what you will.

In any case, I just can't get past the actual words of Obama's tweet:

1.  I am vaccinated and boosted.

2.  But I caught Covid anyway.

3.  You go get yourself vaccinated too.

That's a winning argument if I ever heard one.

But no matter what you think of the argument, it's not very reassuring.  And the long term effects of the vaccines are just starting to come out.

What kills me is the moral outrage that people bring to the argument:  You unvaccinated plebs are clogging up our hospitals and costing us all a lot of money.  In fact, I have read some go so far as to argue that insurance companies should not pay for Covid-related treatment for the unvaccinated.  And hey, I don't really have a problem with that.  But I find it difficult to believe that anyone can get so exercised about this issue.  I'm so angry about this, that I'm willing to let you go bankrupt, or even die; you selfish unvaccinated bastards.

Really?  Is that why they are angry?  Not buying it.

No, I think the anger is because of simple disobedience.  Like parents who get angry at a disobedient child.  I told you to clean your room, and you did not.  So now you will suffer the consequences.  And then there are those who are angry because they obeyed and others did not.  That is, little Karen is mad because dad told both her and her brother to wear a coat, and she did, but her brother did not.  Yes, yes, that's infuriating.  That's how little Karens grow up to be emotionally stunted adult Karens scolding people on airplanes.

To switch metaphors, the good little sheep are angry that the black sheep just might be getting away with something.  The shepherds ordered us to vaccinate.  We just can't have all these black sheep running around not doing what they're told.

And for the time being, I think there is an element of fear involved.  Deep down and unspoken, people are afraid.  People are now waking up to their own decisions to blindly follow government advice.  Maybe they acted hastily and unnecessarily.  Even recklessly?  There are questions which may never get a public hearing, but they percolate just below the surface.  That too is infuriating.

The problem with this particular strain of anger is where people tend to direct it.  Are they angry with the government and media types who bullied them into getting an untested jab?  Are they angry with themselves for allowing themselves to be bullied?  Or are they angry with those of us who refused to be bullied?  I guess we're seeing some of all three.

It will be interesting to watch as this fear and anger either wanes or grows.  It will depend on if and how the long term effects of the vaccines develop.  And just as importantly, if they are reported.  I can make no predictions.

But it's better if we don't think about it.  Let's talk about something else.  The Russia/Ukraine situation, climate change.  Something needs to be done.

This is the world we live in today.

You Will Comply

Why the vaccine push?

Here's a question for you little totalitarians:  If you are fully vaccinated against Covid, why do you care about the vaccination status of anyone else?

Answer:  You don't.

So why the push, the increasingly hard push, to insist and mandate that everyone get vaccinated?  To argue that this has anything to do with health is disingenuous in the extreme.  No, you are pushing this because you cannot stand the fact that a group of people have a different perspective.  And you want to punish and humiliate them for it.

You have no interest in making a rational argument to convince people that your position is correct.  Rather, you want everyone to bow to your superiority and follow your dictates in spite of their own beliefs:  You may not want to get the vaccine, but you will because I say so.  That is a demonstration of real power; North Korean-like power.  You must be so proud of yourselves.  And you are – smugly proud of your self-righteousness and your ability to inflict your will upon the disbelievers, the heretics, and the dissidents.

It is the same with mask wearing.  But this is so much worse because you are actually injecting foreign, untested substances into people.  With ever-increasing levels of force and coercion.  This is an unprecedented level of power in our society and in the American experience.  We have all heard the expression drunk with power.  But I don't think this is adequate.  It certainly does not capture the sheer glee and schadenfreude on the Left.  No, no, what we have here is masturbatory power writ large.

One straw argument seems to be – let me see if I can capture the logic – that the vaccines are not one hundred percent effective and therefore, the virus can still be transmitted even from or to the fully vaccinated.  Well okay, so there's no harm if I wait for more testing, or God-forbid, just FDA approval.

No, this is not about health, this is about simple compliance.  Even obedience.

You will comply.  Or you will be made to comply.

I have noticed that for the first time in my life, I have started using the word "evil."  And I do not use it sarcastically or flippantly.  This is evil.  And if you support it, you are evil.

You are evil.

I'll tell you something else I am going to do for the first time in my life.  I am going to buy a gun.

I am not worried about Covid.  But I am scared to death of you.

The thinking of those on the Left is really difficult to understand.  At least for me.  But here, I think Glenn Reynolds comes pretty close:

Many people simultaneously need to feel that (1) they’re morally and intellectually superior; and (2) that they play an important role in the world.  Mask- and vaccine-shaming allow them to do so easily and with no sacrifice.  The price, of course, is making the world at large a nastier and worse place, while not at all advancing — and probably even setting back — the cause they’re allegedly in favor of.  But it’s not about making the world a better place, it’s about feeling good about themselves.

Ides of March (2021 Version)

The Ides of March is upon us.

Again.

Our government overlords betters elites are still carping about masks and social distancing.  That is bad enough, but even worse is how our fellow citizens, supposedly free Americans, are so willing to accept totalitarian measures.  And have been willing to accept these measures for a year now.

It has gotten to the point where I have stopped blaming the politicians.  It is not Joe Biden's fault for being Joe Biden and doing what Joe Biden does.  Here in North Carolina, it is not Roy Cooper's fault for being Roy Cooper and doing what Roy Cooper does.  I guess I would feel differently if these and other politicians were doing something other than what they said they were going to do, or abandoned their respective platforms.  But that is not the case.

No, it is time to admit where the actual fault lies.  The fault belongs to the people who voted for these idiots.  Yes, my neighbors, and friends, and family.  And yours.

Last week I had a conversation with a friend of mine about what is likely to happen in the coming months in Minneapolis.  And I told him that it is extremely difficult for me to muster sympathy for the people, the citizens, of Minneapolis, or Portland, or Seattle, when they continually vote for the idiots running these cities.  They have the government that they voted for.  Not once, not twice, many times.

As I have written before, because of our founding and our foundational documents, the United States has been late to this party.  And we can quibble about when exactly the change happened.  But it is unmistakable that today the United States has joined the rest of the world in that we have the government(s) that we deserve.

Clearly.

It reminds me of a piece I wrote back in 2019 complaining about my local city government.  Typical fare; you can read it here.  But I would encourage you to read the comments – one from a friend of mine and my response.  Here's the point:  She's a voter.  She voted for Joe Biden and she voted for Roy Cooper.  Of course she did.

So who is actually to blame for our mess?  She is.  And all of her co-religionists of the government faithful.

During the Covid crisis we have seen the largest transfer of wealth from small business to big business in the history of our country.  And that is perfectly okay with many people.  Don't fall for the old canard that big business is Republican or even conservative.  Big business has been drifting left since the sixties.  And today, they've fully arrived.  Big business loves big government.

We are going to get another big dose of this as the various eviction and foreclosure moratoriums come to an end.  It will not be pretty.  And again, more wealth will move to fewer hands.  This is a direct result of the lockdowns and the closing of our economy for a year.

If we want better government and better leaders, we simply have to demand better.  And vote better.  Otherwise, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

The Masked and the Maskless

The Politics of Masking

One’s attitude on mask wearing is directly related to one’s attitude on government.  Let me summarize the two basic positions.  If you believe that government and the individuals running it are a force for good and can be trusted, then you will be more willing to believe what they say and follow their guidance.  If you believe that government is a necessary evil, must be constantly monitored, and certainly not trusted, then you will be less willing to believe what they say and follow their guidance.

In the United States today, this is a clear Left/Right divide.

The people on the Left are fearful of Covid because the government, with the help of the media, has told us that we should be.  And that we should all be wearing masks.  So these people are much more accepting of mask wearing.  They even view it as a moral duty.  So of course it signals their virtue.

The people on the Right are skeptical of all government and government pronouncements.  They view any behavior modifications for Covid as a series of trade-offs, most often pitting the changes against economic concerns.  For masks, there is also the question of simple efficacy.  To the extent that these people wear masks, it is less out of respect for government and more out of respect for private enterprise.

But for the Left, there is a bonus:  Power.  The Left not only changes the behavior of their own members as true believers, the government faithful.  Yes, it's akin to a religion.  But as much as they possibly can, they forcibly change the behavior of those skeptics on the Right.  This is an exercise in raw power.

And they love it.

The Covid Excuse

Why the political divide on Covid?

You would think that a health crisis would be a bipartisan issue.  Short of war, if there is anything that should pull us together as a nation and as a society, surely it must be a pandemic.

Yet, no.  If anything, this illness has further divided our nation.

Rightfully so.

I think the reason for this can be encapsulated in two famous quotes.  Famous, and absolutely correct.

David Horowitz:  Inside every progressive is a totalitarian screaming to get out.

Rahm Emanuel:  You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.

The Left is using Covid as an excuse to do things they would otherwise not be able to do.  I really don't believe they give a damn about the health issue, such as it is.  Rather, why not use the Covid crisis (endlessly hyped by a compliant media) to further your political goals?  And just as importantly, to harm your political adversaries.

You know, all those Right-leaning small business people.  Covid provides an ideal opportunity to screw them.  And the Left is of course doing just that.  Adding their typical it's not what you do, it's who you know to the mix.  Lefty Amazon.com, still operating.  Local cafe:  Close or risk arrest.

I have been inside an Amazon fulfillment center.  The large staff is on top of each other.  Much higher risk of Covid spread there than in your typical coffee shop or restaurant.  I must add that Amazon and its employees are doing a very difficult job under trying circumstances.  And I thank them for it.

So my argument is NOT to close Amazon.  Rather, it is to allow all enterprises to operate freely.  Let adult Americans choose whether to work and patronize, or not.  Allow the fearful to stay home; allow the rest of us to get on with it.  But of course this idea is anathema to the progressive Democrat mindset vying for control of their chattel, er...citizens.

Of course there are people making these decisions:  Amazon is essential; the local cupcake shop, not so much.  Three points on this.  First, the people making these decisions are still being paid.  Second, I can assure you that the cupcake shop is essential to its owner and her staff.  And finally, I would argue that these decisions are driven by political motivations more than health care concerns.  Again, let's trust American adults to do what's right for themselves and their families.  Anything else is just shameful.

In my previous post, I wrote that live and let live is one of my guiding principles.  Regardless of what they may proclaim, this is simply not true for most people, left, right, or center.  Most want others to think and act as they do.  What is so insidious about the Left, is they do this not with persuasion, but rather with coercion.  The coercive power of government.  And everything government does – everything – is at the point of a gun.

To be fair, the religious right is not immune to this tactic.  Given the opportunity, they would outlaw abortion and gay marriage, and force their beliefs and desires on others, also with the coercive power of government.  Regardless of their motivation, this is every bit as pernicious.  But it is the Left, the true believers in government, the government faithful, where this tactic is accepted and promoted in all matters.

So if you are a fundamentalist Christian or a garden-variety Democrat and you support this behavior, well, you are just as bad as your political elites pulling the levers of power.  Make no mistake about it, you are not a good person.  Leave me alone.

Leave me the hell alone!

We will resist or we will conform.

The elitist Leftists will try to bankrupt all of their political opponents.  But that will not be enough for them.  Because their political opponents will still exist.  And they simply cannot tolerate that.

So they will come for your freedom:

They will come for your free speech (in progress).

They will come for your businesses (free enterprise).  They will come for your churches (freedom of religion).  They will come for your schools.  They will come for your health care.  They will come for your automobile (freedom of movement and assembly).  They have a head start on these.

They will criminalize any behavior that does not conform to their political viewpoint and narrative.

They will come for your homes and families and children.

They will come for your guns.

After all, your homes and your children and your faith, and especially your guns, make those rich elitist lefty hypocrites very nervous indeed.

They do not actually fear guns.  What, with their armed security details, they are surrounded by them.  And they absolutely LOVE guns in the hands of a government they control.  No, what they fear is guns in the hands of the average, law-abiding citizen.  Scares them to death.

No, this is not about Covid.  This is about power.  Covid is merely the excuse.  It is the convenient crisis of the moment.  A supposedly once-in-a-century pandemic is too much of an opportunity for the progressive totalitarian Democrats to waste.  And the Left will use it, is using it, to their advantage.

Hyperbole?

We'll see.

But the time for resistance is upon us.
