Winston Marshall and Louise Perry

The deliberate obtuseness of government towards immigration

The unfortunate reality of the coming civil war, no matter what form it may take, is that the belligerents will be lower class and lower-middle class native British people on one side and Muslim immigrants on the other.  In an ideal world, a just world, it would be the natives versus the government that has delivered this mess upon the nation.  And here I mean each and every individual member of government who played a part.  These are the people who should pay most dearly for their own recklessness.

To all the striving middle class and upper-middle class Brits who Perry describes as not wanting to be like Tommy Robinson, I would simply say:  It is not your daughters getting raped.  You could not care less about those working and lower class girls.  This says something fundamental about your character.  And it is your indifference that will be largely responsible for the coming civil war.  Honestly, you richly deserve what is coming.

Katie Porter, Dominatrix

The shrews have it

While it may be hard to believe, Katie Porter does have a natural constituency.

Many others have written about the emasculated men of the Democrat Party; they seem to make up the majority of men in the party.  And what are they looking for?  I mean, if you could create the perfect candidate for them, what kind of person would she be?

Because it is obviously a she, right?  The real question is:  What kind of women do these men prefer?

And the answer is blindingly obvious.  Emasculated men want a strong, powerful woman to tell them what to do.  They want a full time lecturing Karen.  If she makes them feel small in the process, so much the better.

It does not matter whether or not this woman is attractive or bright or charismatic.  Her primary attribute is that she is belittling towards them.  Katie Porter makes Amy Klobuchar and Hillary Clinton look like the frumpy novices they are.

I remember Rush Limbaugh used to say that Hillary Clinton reminds men of their ex-wives.  And yet, the Democrats made her their nominee.  Of course they did.

Yes, Democrats like a shrew.

But these men?  They secretly desire a dominatrix.

Can you not just imagine Katie Porter in that role.  She was made for it.

Porter felt no humiliation wearing a cheap batgirl costume to a congressional hearing.  No, I am not making this up and that is not an AI photo.  Look it up yourself.

Can you just imagine what she might force a partner to wear to a dinner party?  For her own amusement, at his expense.  And then when the poor guy uses the wrong fork, can you just imagine what she would do to him when they get home?

But there is a certain class of men who love it.  After a long day of teaching gender studies, they yearn for a powerful matriarch to forcefully cure them of their internalized white, patriarchal impulses.  They deserve no less.

We can easily ask ourselves:  Who would vote for such a creature?  How did she make it this far in politics?

She may very well be mentally ill.  But there are many leftist women who view shrewishness as a power move.  And there are also many leftist, emasculated men whose secret desire is to be dominated and humiliated.

I'm guessing both groups fantasize about Mistress Katie.

Astronaut Question

Here's a question:  If we are going to send women into space, can we not find women smart enough to use a hair tie?

And no, this question is not meant to be rhetorical, ironic, mean, or even sarcastic or funny.  It is just a simple, straightforward query.

For anyone who would argue that, intentionally or not, this is mean, I would say that it only seems mean because it is true.  She looks like Medusa, and either she is too dumb to realize it, or I suppose it could be a conscious decision.  Either way, question stands.

Here is one other question:  Is Butch, next to her, too unkind to tell her?  Hey Suni, maybe you should tie your hair back before we go on camera.  Maybe he is just living up to his name; laughing at her.

What to Make of Vocal Fry

Self-indulgent insolence

Let's start with:  What is vocal fry?

The above clip, from Loudermilk, is five years old.  And it got a lot of discussion at the time.  I completely agree with the Loudermilk character (Ron Livingston) that people do not talk this way.  It is an affectation.

I never watched the Loudermilk show, but since seeing this clip on Youtube, I have noticed vocal fry everywhere.  And it is grating.  But worse than that, it is so obviously fake.

And this discussion predates Loudermilk.  Naomi Wolf was talking about this issue nine years ago.

So why bring this up now?  Here is today's Megyn Kelly Show:

My question for Eliana Johnson is:  Why would anyone pretend to talk this way?  And why would Kelly, or anyone else, take someone who does speak in this manner seriously?  No matter what one may say about the substance of Johnson's comments, it is extremely difficult to take her seriously.  Just listen to the two guests, and decide which of the two sounds more serious and believable.  Who sounds authentic?  And which of the three women might you trust?

No, Johnson is not as bad as the gal in Loudermilk's coffee shop.  She is smart enough to tone it down a bit.  But like Elizabeth Holmes, if we cannot trust her voice, how can we trust anything she says?

One final point on The Megyn Kelly Show; as I most often do, I listened to the podcast while out walking.  So I was not watching the three women on a screen.  I am sure this makes the vocal fry all the more pronounced and noticeable.  To find a good television host, Roger Ailes used to recommend that producers turn the sound off and just watch.  To really notice vocal fry, my recommendation is to turn the video off and just listen.  It hits you like a brick.

I once thought that these women are trying to sound like Katharine Hepburn.  And of course, failing miserably.  But if there's any truth in this, perhaps they are trying to sound smart and refined and sophisticated like Hepburn.  But it sounds so fake that the result is the opposite.

But I no longer believe this is the reason for vocal fry.

Let's start with the particularly egregious Fashionably Divorced.  Just watch (listen) to ANY of her videos.  I'm sorry, but it's disgusting.  Or, just listen to NPR.  On this Youtube NPR compilation (without video), one recent comment is that vocal fry communicates condescension.  Now this sounds completely true to me.  Maybe it's not an attempt to sound refined and sophisticated, but rather an attempt to convey genuine contempt for your listeners.  Without doubt the Loudermilk barista has contempt for her customers.  Fashionably Divorced conveys condescension and smugness with every syllable.

And Lord, nothing shouts smug like vocal fry on NPR.

Upspeak is another irritating habit that women sometimes glom onto.  Also annoying; but I personally do not find it anywhere as annoying as fry.  Upspeak seems to come from a lack of confidence rather than the self-indulgent insolence of vocal fry.

Whether she is on the radio or standing right in front of you, how should one deal with this self-indulgent insolence?  How should we deal with that level of smugness and condescension?  My advice is don't deal with it.  Find a new coffee ship, turn the radio off, swipe left on the video, and if she is standing right in front of you, walk away.

Do not tolerate the insolence.

Narcissistic Wannabe Thugs

The other day I was in the supermarket and I noticed an American fellow covered in tattoos.  Of course, it's a pretty common sight these days.  But I noticed something about this fellow and it made me think back to what I have noticed about other heavily tattooed men.

This guy sort of strutted around.  You know, chest puffed out, lots of swagger and bravado, etc.  It was as if he was walking through the prison yard and he wanted to make sure he was sending the right message to his...fellow travelers.

There seem to be two types of men who get heavily tattooed.  The beta males who want to appear more masculine.  They most often fail – Hey, they are what they are.  And the alpha males who are over-invested in their masculinity and they need others to know it.  The guys come closer to their goal; it's sort of an in your face aggressiveness.  The don't mess with me prison yard meme.  And I guess that's fine, if you are actually in a prison yard.  But it looks a bit out of place in the supermarket.

And yes, I think these guys have turned themselves into memes.  I mean, I know some legitimate bad asses.  Believe me, they don't need a bunch of tattoos to convey the message.  And I've certainly never seen them strut around.  Not once.  In fact, all legit bad asses that I've met are pretty low key.

I can only assume this peacocking is what peacocking is always about:  Women.  I've seen recent polls that confirm young women think men with tattoos are more masculine and dominant.  And I know that there is a certain type of woman who likes the Andrew Tate, aggressive male persona.  Nowadays these women are easy to spot because they often have their own share of tattoos.  Though mind you, not in every case.

I've made the point before that the degeneration of men that we see today largely stems from the abandonment of standards by women.  That is, if women did not like this behavior, then men would not behave this way.  Men would not dress like thugs and act like thugs if women did not want thugs.  Or at least thug wannabes.

Now there is at least one other element of the strutting tattooed man worth considering.  Acquiring so many tattoos is a fundamentally narcissistic pursuit.  One might argue that one or two tattoos are a personal artistic indulgence or remembrance.  But to get a sleeve or more, that has the look at me quality of the true narcissist.  Tattoos have become a manifestation of narcissism:  Look at me, look at me!

The self-esteem movement, followed by social media proliferation have turned a whole generation into raging narcissists.

Tattoos were sure to follow.

What is a Woman?

If you cannot answer this simple question, how can we trust you about anything?

This is shameful.  The idea that we have to ask, What is a woman?, is shameful enough.  But the fact that politicians cannot or will not answer this ridiculously simple question is just beyond shameful.

Watch this video.  Here is how it ends:
To ask a politician the question, What is a woman?, isn’t a gotcha.  Because they know the answer.  And they know that we know that they know the answer.  It isn’t that they can’t define it.  It’s that they’re too scared to define it because they’ve been so cowed and intimidated by activists.  It would be one thing if these politicians had bought into gender identity ideology to such an extent that they no longer believe in biological sex differences.  I mean, that would be deranged but at least it would be forgivable.  But that’s not what’s happening here.

While most of us have a limited understanding of various key political issues, we can all see that a failure to define woman is either delusional or dishonest.  Neither of which are qualities that we seek in our elected representatives.  The question, What is a woman?, has become a litmus test.  It’s not a gotcha, it’s not transphobic, it’s a means by which we can assess the honesty of the ruling class.  And if they can’t speak openly about the things we all know to be true, we won’t be able to trust them when it comes to anything else.
And that's the real point isn't it?  When you understand this, the What is a woman? question becomes a lot less ridiculous.  The real question is one of trust.  Anyone who says, you are playing word games with an unserious question, well, they are simply attempting to take the focus off the question of trust.  Don't let them.

Honour

The Sublime Keeley Hawes

I have been a huge fan of Keeley Hawes since The Durrells in Corfu.  In this performance, I think she proves that she is one of the finest actors working today.  The Guardian's Chitra Ramaswamy calls Hawes' performance a study in controlled anguish.  But she only gave the movie four out of five stars.  That may well be correct, but Hawes' performance is sublime.

Highly recommended.  Find it on BritboxAmazon, or Apple TV.

The Most Courageous Person Alive

Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is the most courageous person living in the world today.

If you don't know her story, you should Google her.  In 2004, she wrote the text for the short film Submission.  The film's director, Theo van Gogh, was murdered several days after its release.  His assassin left a letter threatening Hirsi Ali pinned with a knife to the dead van Gogh.  You can't make this stuff up.

And yet, Hirsi Ali has continued to write about and speak out about Islam.  Here she sits down with Dave Rubin.

It is rather refreshing to go from writing about the low integrity experience of working at Amazon to sharing this video of the person who is setting the global standard for high integrity today.  If you like this video, here she is talking with Bari Weiss.  Here she is with Ben Shapiro.  All three of these conversations are worth your time.

Hirsi Ali has a new book out, Prey:  Immigration, Islam, and the Erosion of Women's Rights.

Let me quote from the book's Amazon page:
Why are so few people talking about the eruption of sexual violence and harassment in Europe’s cities?  No one in a position of power wants to admit that the problem is linked to the arrival of several million migrants — most of them young men — from Muslim-majority countries.
I have read all of her other work.  Just ordered this one.  She is one of those people who make you ask:  My God, what am I doing with myself?  What have I contributed?

Who'd Be Female Under Islamic Law?

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown writes in The Independent:

I am a Muslim woman and, like my late mother, free, independent, sensuous, educated, liberal, contrary and confrontational when provoked, both feminine and feminist.  I style and colour my hair, wear lovely things and perfumes, appear on public platforms with men who are not related to me, shake their hands, embrace some I know well, take care of my family.

I defend Muslims persecuted by their enemies and their own kith and kin. I pray, fast, give to charity and try to be a decent human being.  I also drink wine and do not lie about that, unlike so many other good Muslims.  I am the kind of Muslim woman who maddens reactionary Muslim men and their asinine female followers.  What a badge of honour.

I am aware that my words will help confirm the pernicious prejudices that fester in the minds of those who despise Islam.  Yet to conceal or excuse the violations would be to condone and encourage them.  There have been enlightened times when some Muslim civilisations honoured and cherished females.  This is not one of them.  Across the West – for a host of reasons – millions of Muslims are embracing backward practices.  In the UK young girls – some so young that they are still in push chairs – are covered up in hijabs.  Disgracefully, there are always vocal Muslim women who seek to justify honour killings, forced marriages, inequality, polygamy and childhood betrothals.  Why are large numbers of Muslim men so terrorised by the female body and spirit?  Why do Muslim women encourage this savage paranoia?

I look out of my study at the common and see a wife fully burkaed on a sunny day.  She sits still.  Her children and husband run around, laughing, playing cricket.  She sits still, dead, buried, a ghost.  She is complicit in her own degradation, as are countless others.  Their acquiescence in a free democracy is a crime against their sisters who have no such choices in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
